Vinted USA: the complete seller guide

Vinted is a Lithuanian marketplace that expanded to the US market and now runs a dedicated US catalogue: domestic buyers, domestic shipping, USD prices. You browse and sell to US members — it is not a European catalogue with international postage bolted on.

Practically, that means listings, buyer messages and support are in English, payouts go to a US bank account, and shipping uses US carriers. If you already sell on Poshmark or Mercari, nothing about your inventory needs to change.

• Seller commission: none. On any price band. A $25 sale pays out $25.
• Buyer Protection: paid by the buyer, added at checkout on top of your price — a fixed part plus a percentage.
• Shipping: paid by the buyer, who chooses the option at checkout.
• Optional paid bumps and wardrobe spotlight. Skip them until your titles, photos and relist rhythm are solid — they amplify a working listing, they do not rescue a stale one.

Why this changes the math: on a $20 item, a percentage commission elsewhere can take a fifth of the sale. On Vinted that difference stays with you, which is exactly why cheap, high-volume categories (kids' clothing, basics, fast-fashion bundles) behave better here than on commission marketplaces.

1. The buyer selects and pays for a shipping option at checkout.
2. Vinted sends you a prepaid label for that carrier.
3. You pack the item, print the label, and drop it off — typically within 5 business days, or the order can be cancelled.
4. Tracking runs through the Vinted conversation, so you never negotiate postage with the buyer.

Two habits prevent almost every shipping complaint: weigh and measure the item before you list it (so the buyer sees a size tier that matches reality), and keep mailers in two sizes on hand so packing takes a minute rather than an evening.

Money arrives in your Vinted Balance, not straight to your bank. It is released when the buyer confirms everything is fine, or automatically once the protection window closes after delivery. You then withdraw to a verified US bank account.

If a buyer opens a claim, the funds stay held until it is resolved. Your defence is always the listing itself: photograph flaws deliberately, describe measurements in inches, and never write "like new" for something that is not. Accurate listings lose a few sales and win every dispute.

A Vinted listing collects most of its impressions in the first 48 hours. After two or three weeks it is effectively invisible even at the right price. Sellers who "do nothing wrong" and still stall are almost always sitting on an old catalogue — the fix is rotation, not discounts.

• Recency first: a three-week-old listing barely surfaces.
• Relist every 8 to 14 days, with variation, never on a fixed clock.
• List in the evening in your own time zone, when browsing peaks.
• Titles: brand, item, size, condition — no filler adjectives.
• Drop prices in 5 to 10% steps rather than one large cut.

These are not substitutes, they reward different behaviour. Poshmark pays for social effort (sharing, parties, follows). Mercari rewards price responsiveness and promotions. Vinted rewards freshness, and charges the seller nothing.

The sensible allocation: put your higher-ticket, brand-name pieces where the buyer pool is deepest, and route everything under roughly $60 through Vinted where no commission is taken. Keep one source of truth for what is still available, because the real risk of running three marketplaces is selling the same item twice.
